🛡️ Bypassing Windows SmartScreen Takes about 10 seconds

Run the installer
Double-click the downloaded .exe file. A blue "Windows protected your PC" dialog will appear — this is expected for indie apps without an expensive certificate.

Click "More info"
In the SmartScreen dialog, click the More info link in small text below the warning message. The dialog will expand to show more options.

Click "Run anyway"
A Run anyway button will now appear at the bottom of the dialog. Click it and Desktop Duck will install normally.
🦆 Why does this happen? Windows SmartScreen flags apps that haven't built up enough download history yet. Desktop Duck is completely safe — no telemetry, no tracking, nothing shady. The warning disappears as more people download it.
🔒 Bypassing macOS Gatekeeper Takes about 30 seconds

Download and open the .dmg
Download the Mac version and open the .dmg file. Drag Desktop Duck into your Applications folder as usual.

Right-click to open (first launch only)
Instead of double-clicking the app, right-click (or Control-click) the Desktop Duck icon in Applications and choose Open from the menu.

Click "Open" on the dialog
A dialog will ask if you're sure you want to open an app from an unidentified developer. Click Open. macOS remembers this choice — you'll never see it again for Desktop Duck.
💡 Alternative method: If the right-click trick doesn't work, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll down. You'll see a message about Desktop Duck being blocked — click Open Anyway there instead.
